  1. 1/2 pear (diced)
  2. Pinch ground nutmeg
  3. 1/4 ounce simple syrup
  4. 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  5. 1/2 ounce Tuaca
  6. 1/2 ounce B&B
  7. Garnish: orange peel

  1. Gather the ingredients.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add the pear, nutmeg, and simple syrup. Muddle well.
  3. Add the vodka, Tuaca, and B&B, and top with ice.
  4. Shake vigorously.
  5. Double strain by pouring the drink through your normal cocktail shaker as well as a fine-mesh strainer into a chilled cocktail glass.
  6. Garnish with a flamed orange zest.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

  1. For the simple syrup, you'll find it best to use a 1:1 mix, meaning equal parts of sugar and water. This won't be quite as sweet as rich simple syrup, which is 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. The lighter version is a good choice considering that the recipe uses two sweetened liqueurs.
  2. Chilling the glass is always preferred for drinks served without ice and it makes this drink more enjoyable. If you don't have one pre-chilled, place a few ice cubes in the glass while you're mixing the drink, then discard them before straining.
  3. To flame an orange zest, cut a piece of peel that's about 2 inches long by 1 inch wide. Hold the peel over the glass between two fingers, peel side out, then gently squeeze it over a lighter or match. It will create a small burst of flame as the essential oils are expressed into the drink.
  4. If you don't have B&B, Benedictine will work as a substitute and create a nice drink. You could even split the 1/2 ounce measurement with equal parts of Benedictine and brandy to try and replicate B&B's complexity.
  5. Cinnamon would be a nice alternative to nutmeg. Either spice can also be sprinkled on top of the drink as an extra garnish.
