Gather the ingredients.
Heat the grill to about 350 F, or medium heat for coals.
Combine the ground beef, pork, ketchup, egg, breadcrumbs, onion mixture, salt, and pepper and mix until well blended.
On a double piece of heavy-duty foil or in an aluminum pan, fashion the meat mixture into a loaf.
Brush with barbecue sauce if desired.
Grill the meatloaf over indirect heat for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until it registers at least 160 F on an instant-read thermometer. 160 F is the minimum safe temperature for ground meat. The minimum safe temperature for ground poultry is 165 F.
